Anna Stockdale has started the Build Your Own Boat Program. She will be building a modified Beach Pea. Here she is re-drawing the boat with waterlines and buttocks. Anna redrew the peapod with waterlines instead of the plank lines given. This is so she can add more planks with the traditional construction. She then took offsets from this new drawing for moulds and her half model.
Lofting the boat full size begins Battens are sprung to ensure all the lines are fair Planking is milled to thickness and stored indoors so it is dry when needed Anna's half model is near completion. Patterns are made from the lofting and moulds cut from 3/4 " plywood. The nails are used to transfer from lofting to pattern material. Patterns are transferred and moulds cut out Anna planes edges to line. Strongback built and moulds are set up. Stems are attached and lining off of planks is done. Looks like a bump on the middle batten at station 2. Plank patterns are next. Dec 11/05. |
