New Squirt Started Feb 9/05

The molds have been pulled out and set up for starting a new squirt. Squirt 1 sits in the shop for easy reference.

The transom, stem and keelson were built during squirt 1 and therefore ready for set up. Bevels were applied to the transom and keelson edges rounded.

Tuck tape on the mold edges ensures boat is not glued to the molds.

The backbone was dry fit and then glued in place. All yellow cedar joints are heated with a heat gun to flash off surface oils for good glue penetration.

Plywood scarfed using skilsaw jig. Bottom plank cot out and fit to backbone. It is then glued and temporarily clamped with screws through the keelson.

The bottom is beveled and the garbords are fitted.

Stem fit is checked for flat mating surface.

Holes are drilled for stitching and garboards are glued up

Yellow cedar is prepared from stock for two sawn frames. Quill bevels previously made frame to fit station 4.

Centerboard and rudder are laminated mahagany plywood

Red cedaer plankind stock is planed to thichness and first tree wood planks cut out. Gorgeous wood.
